What can we offer during the Dual Career Support?

  • Focus on the individual situation and goals, taking into account the personal life circumstances
  • Analysis of the personal profile, skills and strengths
  • Joint creation of an individual application strategy. This is an open process and does not necessarily have to lead to the job search but could also result in further qualification programs or other professional options like freelancing.
  • Screening and optimization of application documents
  • Information on the specifications of the German job market
  • Information on the application process in Germany
  • Information on employers and scientific institutions in the region
  • Information about language courses
  • Coaching for job interviews

Please keep in mind that our Dual Career Support can offer various services to contribute to your success, but we unfortunately cannot guarantee or promise a suitable job position, as this of course depends on the fit of your profile and the availability of the job market.

How does a typical Dual Career Support process look like?

The description of the Dual Career Support process is only an example. The process, number of meetings, and an exact timeline will be set up together with you during the initial meeting.

To initiate the Dual Career Support process, please contact us via email, including some short information about yourself (e.g. field of study, language competencies, former working experience, CV) and your availability for a first meeting. The meetings can take place online or in person in Saarland.

We will contact you to arrange a first meeting. This meeting is highly individualized and tailored to your wishes and goals. The idea is to get to know you better and to identify a personalized strategy for you.

If you decide to continue using the Dual Career Support, we will maintain contact via email. Usually, there are additional meetings to plan the next steps and monitor the further process of your arrival in the new job market or the further pursuit of your goals.

It is also possible to integrate longer breaks into the Dual Career Support process, e.g. for upskilling or language courses, and continue the support at a later date.

What are the specifications of the German job market?

We are happy to provide more information about the German job market during the Dual Career Support.

How about intercultural differences?

Moving into another country naturally comes along with emerging into a new culture. There might be things that seem strange, quirky, or confusing when arriving in Germany. But do not worry! Exploring a new culture is an interesting mission and a source of personal enrichment.

To assist you in this process, we offer a tailored “Understanding the Germans” training, which supports you in arriving in Germany as well as navigating the German job market and working culture.

Do I need to speak German to find a job?

Even though the job market in Germany is becoming more and more international, everyday working life is often influenced by regional factors and therefore, in many cases, German is required. It is therefore helpful to learn German as soon as possible.

However, there are of course opportunities for applicants without German language skills, which will be considered during the Dual Career Support program.

Do I need a recognition of my foreign job qualification?

In case you obtained your degree abroad and would like to work in Germany, it may be necessary for your degree to be recognized by the German authorities. To find out more about this, please do not hesitate to contact the Dual Career Support. Additionally, feel free to check out the following websites:

How long can I use the Dual Career Support?

The duration of the Dual Career Service is individual. Normally, it ends when you have been successful in your search for employment or if you decide to pursue your goals independently.

It is also possible to pause the Dual Career Program, for example for the duration of further training, and then restart the support at a later point in time with advice on job searching.

How can I contribute to a successful Dual Career process?

The Dual Career Support is all about you. Therefore, your personal commitment to the process is a key factor for success. We kindly ask for open communication about your wishes and needs, as this is essential for a successful collaboration.

What about data protection?

The Dual Career Support follows high standards of data protection and treats your personal information confidentially. Therefore, a data protection form must be signed at the beginning of the Dual Career process.

After the end of the Dual Career Support program, all personal data (e.g. CVs and other documents) will be deleted.
