PhD Positions related to Secure Cyber-Physical Systems (m/f/d) - Group Tippenhauer

The Secure Cyber-Physical Systems (SCy-Phy) Group of Nils Ole Tippenhauer is looking for PhD Candidates with interest in security of embedded and cyber-physical systems.  Possible topics for a thesis could be:  

  • Anomaly and intrusion detection for embedded and cyber-physical systems (using process data, traffic and hardware features). Solutions can be AI-based, or using mathematical process models.  
  • Security analysis of proprietary (wired and wireless) protocols, firmware and applications.  
  • Attacks and countermeasures for realworld cyber-physical systems such as autonomous vehicles, drones and other critical infrastructure.

"The SCy-Phy group at CISPA focuses on applied security research in the domain of cyber-physical systems: industrial control systems (ICS), embedded systems, and the Internet-of-Things (IoT). Current research highlights are results on low-level security of the Bluetooth protocol, adversarial learning attacks on Anomaly detection systems for ICS, and state-aware anomaly detection systems for ICS."
