The CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security is looking for people interested in joining the Software Lab as a PhD student. The Software Lab conducts research at the intersection of software engineering, programming languages, artificial intelligence, and security, with a focus on tools and techniques for constructing reliable, efficient, and secure software.

The group of Sebastian Stich works on the design and analysis of optimization methods for machine learning, with research topics ranging from decentralized and federated optimization, adaptive stochastic algorithms, and generalization in deep learning, to robustness, privacy, and security aspects of modern ML systems.

The research group of Dr. Swen Jacobs conducts research into formal techniques for obtaining provably correct systems, with a focus on component-based systems with a parametric number of components, and complex properties including security and real-time guarantees. The techniques encompass formal verification, automatic synthesis/repair, as well as learning of systems and their properties. Overall, our mission is to make it easier to obtain systems with reliable correctness guarantees.

 

The research group of Prof. Dr. Cas Cremers is seeking motivated full-time PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to join an international and interdisciplinary team working at the forefront of security protocol analysis, applied cryptography, and formal verification.

The Secure Cyber-Physical Systems (SCy-Phy) Group of Nils Ole Tippenhauer is looking for PhD Candidates with interest in security of embedded and cyber-physical systems.

The Relational Machine Learning Group led by Rebekka Burkholz at the Helmholtz Center CISPA in Saarbrücken (Germany) has several open PhD positions. Engagement in topics related to deep learning efficiency in association with an ERC Starting Grant (SPARSE-ML) and a collaboration with Apple Research on LLM efficiency would be a plus.
